Descrizione
A solemn Christian temperance allegory shows a grand entrance marked “Temple of Pleasure”, where well-dressed revelers dance, drink, and celebrate above a descending stairway of moral ruin. Each step bears a warning word: Dissipation, Debt, Dishonesty, Deceit, Dishonor, Despair, Depravity, Debauchery, Degradation, and finally Death. At the bottom, fallen and broken figures reveal the end of unchecked sin while the banquet and music continue above them. The work presents pleasure without repentance as a downward path, echoing the biblical warning that a person reaps what is sown. It is suited for sermons, Bible studies, recovery ministry, youth teaching, and moral instruction on temptation, addiction, worldly pleasure, and the wages of sin.
