Descrizione
Egypt mourns under the final plague as an Egyptian official stands rigid beside fallen household members, his staff in hand and his face turned with alarm. Bodies lie across the floor in the shadowed room, while the figure’s ceremonial dress and Egyptian headdress place the scene within Pharaoh’s land at the climax of the Exodus judgments.
The artwork depicts the biblical night when the Lord struck the firstborn of Egypt, compelling Pharaoh to release Israel from bondage. In Exodus 12, the plague reveals both divine judgment and covenant mercy: death passes through Egypt, while the homes marked by the Passover blood are spared. This subject is well suited for teaching on the Passover, deliverance, judgment, redemption, and the cost of refusing God’s command.
