John Chapter 1220 Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks.21 So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, āSir, we wish to see Jesus.ā22 Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus.23 And Jesus answered them, āThe hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.25 Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.27 āNow is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? āFather, save me from this hourā? But for this purpose I have come to this hour.28 Father, glorify your name.ā Then a voice came from heaven: āI have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.ā29 The crowd that stood there and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, āAn angel has spoken to him.ā30 Jesus answered, āThis voice has come for your sake, not mine.31 Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.ā33 He said this to show by what kind of death he was going to die. Luke Chapter 2020 So they watched him and sent spies, who pretended to be sincere, that they might catch him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the authority and jurisdiction of the governor.21 So they asked him, āTeacher, we know that you speak and teach rightly, and show no partiality, but truly teach the way of God.22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar, or not?ā23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said to them,24 āShow me a denarius. Whose likeness and inscription does it have?ā They said, āCaesarās.ā25 He said to them, āThen render to Caesar the things that are Caesarās, and to God the things that are Godās.ā26 And they were not able in the presence of the people to catch him in what he said, but marveling at his answer they became silent. Mark Chapter 1213 And they sent to him some of the Pharisees and some of the Herodians, to trap him in his talk.14 And they came and said to him, āTeacher, we know that you are true and do not care about anyoneās opinion. For you are not swayed by appearances, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? Should we pay them, or should we not?ā15 But, knowing their hypocrisy, he said to them, āWhy put me to the test? Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.ā16 And they brought one. And he said to them, āWhose likeness and inscription is this?ā They said to him, āCaesarās.ā17 Jesus said to them, āRender to Caesar the things that are Caesarās, and to God the things that are Godās.ā And they marveled at him. Matthew Chapter 2215 Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to entangle him in his words.16 And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, āTeacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyoneās opinion, for you are not swayed by appearances.17 Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?ā18 But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, āWhy put me to the test, you hypocrites?19 Show me the coin for the tax.ā And they brought him a denarius.20 And Jesus said to them, āWhose likeness and inscription is this?ā21 They said, āCaesarās.ā Then he said to them, āTherefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesarās, and to God the things that are Godās.ā22 When they heard it, they marveled. And they left him and went away. |
