Il Miracolo del Furnace

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stand unharmed within the blazing furnace as a radiant fourth figure walks among them. Flames rise around their garments, yet the men speak with peace and wonder inside the brick chamber. Beyond the furnace opening, King Nebuchadnezzar and his attendants look on, confronted by the miracle that exposes the limits of earthly power before the living God.

The scene draws from Daniel 3, where the three Hebrew faithful refuse to bow before the king’s golden image. Cast into the fire for their obedience, they are preserved by God, and Nebuchadnezzar sees “a fourth” in the flames. The artwork emphasizes divine deliverance, steadfast faith under persecution, and the presence of God with His servants in trial. It is well suited for teaching on courage, idolatry, worship, persecution, and the Lord’s saving power.
