Descrizione
Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus kneel inside the rock-hewn tomb, carefully wrapping the body of Jesus Christ in a clean burial cloth. The stone walls and steps behind them place the moment in the quiet chamber where the crucified Lord was prepared for burial before the Sabbath. Their bowed posture and tender hands show reverence, grief, and costly discipleship at the hour when hope seemed hidden beneath death. In the Gospel account, Joseph receives permission from Pilate to take Jesus’ body, and Nicodemus brings myrrh and aloes for the burial. The scene reflects the reality of Christ’s death, the devotion of secret disciples made public, and the solemn waiting that precedes the resurrection.
